Progress HIV

2026 PROGRESS-HIV is an innovative care programme launched by the A. Gemelli University Polyclinic IRCCS Foundation aimed at people living with HIV.  Within the Complex Operational Unit for Infectious Diseases, the Infectious Diseases Outpatient and Day Hospital Unit cares for a very large population of people living with HIV, counting over 2000 people.

The main challenge of the initiative consisted in introducing ‘long-acting’ antiretroviral therapies: whilst representing an innovation capable of improving adherence and quality of life, their effectiveness depends on a dedicated organisational pathway, including careful patient selection, appointment scheduling and continuous monitoring.
