The Mini Health Assemblies

2026 The Health Mini-Assemblies (Miniassembleias da Saúde) were developed by the Portuguese Society for Health Literacy (SPLS) as a participatory health literacy model implemented in educational and community settings across Portugal. Within the HIV and sexual health component, the initiative primarily targets adolescents and young people, addressing topics such as HIV prevention, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), testing, stigma, sexual health, access to healthcare services and informed decision-making.

The initiative responds to an important need within health promotion: moving beyond the delivery of health information to young people and towards the co-creation of health literacy with young people.
